Overview

Meet both guide and driver and drive shortly to the Jewish quarter, located south in the medina. Explore the sixteenth century mellah, and the new extended neighborhood in 20th, where both local Jewish inhabitants of the city and the emigrated Sephardic Jews from Andalusia, lived together for a long time up to the twentieth century. Walk through the different streets where Jews held various corporations serving both local Jews and Muslim communities. Explore Slat Laazama Synagogue and the Torah school founded by Itshak Deloya in 1492, a Rabbi and the former president of the community. Walk next to the Miaara cemetery located on the edge of the mellah where important saints were buried including Rabai Hannania Ha Cohen and many other Torah devotees. Carry on visiting a local family for tea with a local Jewish family and spend a memorable moment with the members.
