Overview

From Marrakech travel approximately 30 miles to the Ourika valley, which spreads between the first foothills of the Atlas Mountains. Despite its being so close to the city, this beautiful lush green valley is one of the well-preserved valleys in Morocco. As you drive through the valley you will see numerous olive groves and citrus tree orchards, as well as prairies that are shaded by poplar trees and other weeping willows, which are unusual at this altitude. Brief Stop in The Safraniere (saffron gardens) on the way and then onto Nectarome, Morocco’s first Aromatherapy gardens, where regional herbs and plants are used to produce exceptional aromatherapy products. Walk through aromatic and medicinal plants, roses, herbs and trees. Afterwards continue to Oulmes village to explore one of the women argan cooperative, an endemic tree to Morocco. Watch the whole oil making process in the workshop. Then drive further into the valley which gets narrower and offers spectacular views. You will be encountering locals in their daily activities of terraced farms and goat grazing. Back the same road to stop in a local restaurant for lunch. Afternoon, drive through the valley back to Marrakech.
